Abstract: There are many different metrics which are used in constructions of codes. The problem of choosing a metric for a given channel or finding the channels which are matched to a given metric is dependent on the decoding. Rank distance codes are matrix code with the rank distance. They are useful in space-time coding,random network coding, code based cryptography etc. Firstly, the structure of rank metric codes and the relation between linearized polynomials and these codes will be explained. Then, classification of them will be mentioned.
