General Principles and Legislation

Points to Consider When Selecting Vocational Elective Courses During Course Registration

1. It is essential that the designated professional elective courses be selected based on the type of certificate the student has chosen.
2. Courses from other departments have been added to the Professional Elective Course pool. Elective courses will be selected from the Professional Elective 1 pool.
3. Courses listed on the same row in the tables published under the “Certificate” tab, which detail the courses to be offered as part of the certificate program, are considered equivalent. Therefore, if a student takes more than one course listed in the same row, they will be considered to have completed only one of the minimum nine courses required in the Vocational Elective 1 course group.
4. Courses added to our Professional Elective Course pool from other departments will be selected only by students aiming to earn the certificate. Consequently, students who do not aim to earn the certificate must select courses with the MAT code from the Professional Elective Course pool.
5. Students must complete at least one of the following—MAT9000 Capstone Project, an optional internship, or the KOOP process—in a field relevant to this certificate.
